Road and rail
We see transport as one large process in which all the technical solutions have to communicate. This means that transport-related projects are about more than just planning, building and operating electrical infrastructure. Safety is central to all our solutions.
We integrate complex systems and make them work together, thereby giving our customers a high degree of control over their systems. What motivates us is not simply delivering a project, but playing our part in providing efficient, safe transport for thousands of users daily.
Rail
Guard's team includes engineers with many years of diverse experience working on complex signalling systems. Guard can provide expert assistance with planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of signalling systems for heavy and light rail. Our highly experienced resources include signal installers, safety supervisors, safety inspectors, signal engineers and engineering managers who can provide know-how in conventional signalling and ATC, the new ERTMS rail signalling system, the TMS operating system and the new CBTC light-rail signalling system. Guard has already supplied PLC-based communication technology for the signals on the Oslo tram system. We are confident that some parts of future signalling systems can be controlled using PLC-based technology, which may reduce the cost of new systems and make infrastructure budgets go further.
We also supply operational control systems (SCADA) with modern user interfaces, and systems for monitoring and controlling critical infrastructure. With their extensive monitoring, operational control and automation capabilities, our systems provide maximum uptime and security for our customers.

Guard has a dedicated signalling department covering the following roles:
Signal engineers
Signal installers
Safety supervisors
Signal safety inspectors
Final inspectors
Construction supervisors
Technical project managers
Automation engineers
Our rail business is focused on two areas:
Control and monitoring systems for tunnels and operating premises
Rail signalling systems

Guard supplies control, regulation and monitoring systems for new and upgraded tunnels and approach zones. These include camera and detection systems (ITV/AID) based on conventional cameras, radar, thermal cameras or a combined solution. As well as traffic control and monitoring capabilities, these projects may incorporate OPC servers, panels, cabinets, emergency booths, UPS, weather stations, pumping stations, public address systems, signage, barriers, emergency phones, lighting controls and more. Guard makes sure all the components are seamlessly integrated. We contribute actively to project meetings and maintain overall control of the project, in addition to programming, integrating and commissioning.
The E18 Larvik tunnel is described as one of the most hi-tech tunnels in Norway. Guard is proud to have contributed expertise and state-of-the-art solutions to this project.
